If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I'd want to pass along to others...
About Abundance--"How Much is Enough?"
The most enduring teachings say things like, "To thine own self be true," and "Follow your heart." "The kingdom of heaven is inside." "Follow your bliss." "The answers you seek are inside." All of these direct us inside. So, in order to connect with the inner guidance, it's necessary to move into the pauses. Listen to the silence. See the invisible. We need to quiet down regularly, away from the external distractions, and listen, observe, sense, connect. And then move on that inner direction, checking it out and validating it from our own experience. We will either gain the desired result, or learn valuable lessons.
I do this inner work by doing a practice we call "Spiritual Exercises" (similar to, and more active than, meditation). One day about 30 years ago, during my Spiritual Exercise, I met the one who is my inner guide. I entered through a door into a large white room. Sitting on a tall stool, with his back to me, was a man, wearing a wizard cap. I felt great loving, compassion, understanding, acceptance, and warmth from him. I asked, "Who are you?" He said gleefully, with a twinkle, "Well if you want a name, how about 'Magic Miller' (he has a sense of humor).
Some years later, I had this conversation with Magic Miller, the Is, Me, or whoever it is inside....
Magic Miller: "Except as you are a child you will not enter the gates of heaven." "Suffer little children to come unto me for such is the Kingdom of Heaven." It's ok to be like Peter Pan.
Terry: I don't want to "grow up." The grownups don't seem to have much fun. But how do I take care of myself financially?
MM: Rely on your partner.
TT: Which partner?
MM: Me.
TT: How? Help me.
MM: Come to the partnership meetings more frequently, and regularly--and listen.
TT: So what do I do?
MM: Be loving. Trust. Practice gratitude. Give more than you receive.
TT: And then what?
MM: Love more.
TT: What about the bills?
MM: Aren't they paid?
TT: Yes.
MM: So what's the problem?
TT: I don't make enough.
MM: How much is enough?
TT: Good question. (long pause) Where did you go?
MM: Nowhere. I asked you a question. I'm waiting for an answer. Do you have one?
TT: Not really.
MM: Find one.
Thus the beginning of many of my most illuminating adventures and experiences. Magic Miller led me on the way to finding out who I am.
TT: You mean I am "love," "good," "laughter," ... "God"? That's me?
MM: Yes.
TT: Who are you?
MM: The same.
TT: You mean we're the same one?
MM: Yes.
TT: You're me? We're the same one?
MM: Yes, sort of.
TT: What do you mean, "sort of"?
MM: Like the air in one corner of the room is the same as the air in all the room. We are all one (not alone and separate)....
