If today were my last day on Earth and I could share 500 words of brilliance with the world, here are the important things I'd want to pass along to others... When I was asked to write a short summary of what I have learned in life that I could share with others to inspire them to live a more fulfilled life, I realized my journey has been a long one. "With many roads to go they don't all go the same way but they get there just the same, and I have a feeling we'll meet one day when the roads come together up the way".For me the most important life changing experience started at the age of 18. As I look back in my life, it was then that I was inspired to appreciate life, to grab it with every moment and be blessed for each day that is in front of me. It was February 14, 1979 Valentine's Day I was in a fatal car accident. I was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and then flat lined again on the operating table. My parents and family were then told by the doctors that I would not make it or pull through from this tragic accident. I was in a coma for two weeks, had two complete blood transfusions and was kept alive because of those resources. My blood type is B+ which is not very common so the local radio stations and television news reporters asked for people in my community to please donate to save my life. Looking back 29 years ago I am reminded daily of how important it is to donate blood and to help others. How wonderful it was that my community pulled together in order to save a life. Cut to 29 years later my life has truly been blessed, I've traveled the world, met Royalty, Presidents, and Hollywood from everyone like writing one of Larry King's theme songs to Jerry Seinfeld being my neighbor in New York City for two years. I've worked with numerous non-profit organizations to help raise money and awareness. Giving back or should I say paying it forward is truly what it's all about. What goes around does really come back ten folds. Over the last ten years, I've worked in the Public Relations field representing some of the most incredible accounts such as The National Holocaust Museum, WW2 Memorial, Women's War Memorial, Department of Defense, Secretary of Health, The White House, and The US- Ireland Business Summit just to mention a few. Prior to my working in Public Relations, I had spent almost 15 years working in the entertainment industry as an International Performer, a production assistant for the Oscars and Emmys, and this was truly magical and an amazing part of my journey. With all of this said, and all of these life experiences I was able to put these relationships, emotions and life journeys all together in a CD that I've just released. It is such a blessing how I am able to look back at so many of those journeys and to thank so many people who made a difference in my life. Last year it was my honor and privilege to have met some of the most amazing New York Times bestselling inspirational authors. I had an idea to present to them in person. I asked them to give me their greatest inspirational quotes, and then I would compose a song from their quotes and record their live quotes to inspire others morning, noon and night. My album is called, "The Gift of Words and Music" on my website http://www.thegiftofwordsandmusic.com/ I go through my life journey and thank all of those individuals that have made a difference in my life. This story of my life and the making of this CD has changed my life forever. Looking back at that time in my life at the age of 18 and not knowing if I would ever be around has totally reminded me each day to make a difference whether it's a small gesture of kindness or a large gesture to help feed the world, help the homeless or reach out to our military men and women. I make a promise to myself each day to be a better person and to honor my parents, my friends and me. |
