Take Time to Connect

Just for a moment, think this one thought:

I am an unlimited being.

I have the power to be, do or create anything in my life that I desire.

Anything.

How does that feel?

Like most people, you’re probably feeling something like “yeah, I wish”, or “if only that were true”, or even “I wish I could believe that”.  To some just saying this feels like we’re lying.

Some days more than others, we’re able to see the possibility of “I am an unlimited being” really being a true statement.

What makes the difference of not being able to say that with conviction everyday?

On our stronger, more balanced days when we’re connected to Source energy we know these things to be true. So why is it that there are days when we live in limitation? I believe it’s because we don’t take the time to connect to the greater part of our selves. istock_000007706240xsmall

When I look at the times that I’ve felt the most connected, it’s when I’m deep in Nature, when I witnessed a birth, when I was present for the passing of my best friend’s child, or when I intentionally take the time to be still and connect.

But somehow in the daily hustle and bustle of survival, we tend to put everything else at the top of our “to do” list, and connection is something that we do if we have the time. It’s not something that most consciously create the time for, but something that happens if we’re lucky or if circumstances force us to that point.

Instead, thoughts like “I can’t do that because…”  seem to roll off of our tongues like we actually mean it. As Thoreau said, we “live quiet lives of desperation” rather than tapping into the unlimited power that is there for us.

The next question I hear is, “How do I do that?” Especially in today’s fast-paced world where the world seems to revolve a bit faster than the day before, it can be trying to find the time to connect. I’ve learned that it only happens if I make the time.

Mother Theresa and Pope John Paul had one thing in common. They would each spend four hours each morning connecting to the Divine. When I first heard this, my first reaction was, “I don’t have time for that!”

The interesting thing about that for me is that these were two of the most productive people ever on the planet. I have always been a very curious person, so this made me ask an important question…Could there be a connection between their productivity and their strong connection to something bigger?

What is it that they both found that works, that we don’t know about?

Over the last year I’ve had the privilege of interviewing hundreds of “rock stars” in the world of inspiration. There are several prevailing themes that each of these folks has shared with me. Connection is one of the top ones.

By connecting we tap into not only something bigger than ourselves, but an infinite power. I if have a problem and I decide to sit down and think my way out of it, I’m using the same mind that got me into the problem in the first place. Be connecting to the Divine, I’m availing myself to infinite possibilities- options that I wouldn’t even dream of being possible. But they are not only possible; they are there- just for asking.

Many of us were raised with “Ask and ye shall receive”. I know the principle of that statement to be true, regardless of the religious path one may be walking.

So right now, instead of stressing over yet one more thing on your plate, go within. Go to that place of solace where all answers reside- within you. Whether that means going for a walk in Nature, listening to inspirational music, hugging someone you love, sitting quietly for 15 minutes, or talking to God…. Go do it.

Take the time to connect to you. Take the time FOR you. Although it may seem selfish to carve out time just for you when life is so busy, it’s actually more selfish NOT to. The world needs all of us at our best. We can only be there for each other, when we’re able to be there for ourselves.

How do we get to be there for ourselves? By connecting to the magnificence that we really are each day.

You are an unlimited being filled with infinite possibility. You have the power to be, do or create anything that you desire in your life. Be grateful for where you are, connect to the Divine, and ask and ye shall receive.

May your day be filled with unlimited blessings.

Victoria, thank you for sharing your comments. Any day that I take the time to connect is a good day. I agree that it’s especially powerful on this beautiful Sunday morning.

What a well written post. I feel depleted and completely unproductive when I neglect to connect. Thank you for the inspiration!

    Dear Kathleen,

Thank you. I too feel unproductive when I fail to connect. Funny thing is, on the mornings that I don’t take the time, it’s because I think there are other things that are more important, I’m too busy, I just don’t have the time today, etc. I can almost hear the Universe laughing.

It’s almost one of those “pay me now or pay me later” kinds of things- either I spend the time in the morning and save time later, or I save time in the morning and pay for it all day. When the lesson is so consistent, you think I’d learn this, no?

    Smiles and hugs,

    Gail

I like this post. I refer to my time “connecting” as my spiritual workout and have found it to be more valuable than my physical workout. It’s amazing the difference that even a few minutes can make. The time spent is definitely redeemed.

When we meditate, we begin to become more aware of our subtle intuitive impulses, insights, ideas, emotions and inspirations.
