Roslyn FrankenRoslyn Franken was born in Montreal, Canada, to a mother who survived the concentration camps of Nazi Germany and a father who survived the Japanese slave labour camps in Nagaski, Japan, as a Prisoner of War. Diagnosed with cancer at age 29, Roslyn quickly learned that she inherited her parents' "survivor" gene as she fought back to become herself a long-term cancer survivor. The experience provoked her return to school with a Masters in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University in Montreal and certification through the Professional School of Psychology in California and inspired a career as a counselor, personal coach and motivational speaker. As she approached 40, Roslyn's personal struggles with food and weight issues led to the creation of the techniques that changed her life. By putting the principles into practice, she reached and maintains her current, healthy weight and remains cancer-free. Roslyn now owns and operates the Roslyn Franken Group, offering motivational speaking and personalized counseling services to promote, educate and inspire others who want to change their lives for the better through the practices of healthy eating and positive living using the principles outlined in her life-changing book, The A List: 9 Guiding Principles for Healthy Eating and Positive Living. Roslyn uses The A List book to raise funds for cancer research through her Corporate Gift of Health Program whereby corporate leaders across the globe are encouraged to share The A List gift as part of greater employee health and wellness initiatives. She is also currently working on a new book project titled "We are Cancer Survivors" that will provide positive inspiration to newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families. As a subject matter expert Roslyn is often called upon as a guest on television and radio as well as to contribute articles and columns to newspapers and magazines. Roslyn regularly gives back to the community through donations of her book and services. Roslyn is happily married to Elliott Smith, a professional magician, and enjoys portraiture, the healing arts, cooking and song writing.
